Two visitors at Urban Art, London’s largest annual open air contemporary arts fair which takes place along the street railings of Josephine Avenue in Brixton.
Every year in July the railings on tree-lined Josephine Avenue in Brixton become a vibrant space; an open-air gallery exhibiting more than 1000 pieces of work from over 200 artists, printmakers and photographers.
Urban Art 2017 is London’s largest annual open-air contemporary arts fair and was launched 16 years ago by local resident and artist Timothy Sutton. He says: “I realised that the railings were a natural open-air gallery and knew from experience about the lack of affordable exhibition space, so this was a no-brainer really.”
