Five volumes on interior design by David Hicks will be priced at £1500 at the PBFA’s Bloomsbury Christmas Fair on December 2.
David Hicks, who died earlier this year, was probably one of the country’s most influential interior designers.
A man who claimed that he alone invented the profession of interior designer, his heyday spanned nearly 30 years from 1960- 98. With a style that has been described as ‘massive overscaling and deceptive simplicity’, some of Hicks’ design pronouncements echo today, including the grouping of objects and how to combine functionality with aesthetics.
