Among the highlights in Brightwells’ spring fine art sale on March 21-22 in Leominster are six Japanese bronzes from the estate of the late Lady Mary Nolan (1926-2016), wife of Australian painter Sydney Nolan.
The naturalistic carvings of elephants and tigers were made in the studio of master craftsman Genryusai Seiya and date to the Meiji period. This large 3ft 3in (99cm) long striding tiger on a burr wood base is estimated at £3000-5000.
