The long-awaited return in Derbyshire by Halcyon Fairs to the newly restored Octagon ballroom in Buxton’s magnificent Victorian pavilion has been delayed again due to ongoing works. Fair organiser Duncan Pembroke took over the 40-year monthly two-day antiques fair at the beginning of 2018 following the retirement of David Fletcher.
Pembroke said: “The renovation works were due to take 14 months but in the end it will be three years, with costs rising from £900,000 to £5m.
“We were due to hold our first fair in the restored ballroom at Easter, which was then put back to June 30 and July 1. Sadly, we have had to postpone this now until our September 22-23 fair. But we are all very much looking forward to that.”
