A MID Argyll-based charity has been recognised at the highest level for its efforts to help people in the Gambia.
Based in Inveraray, First Aid 4 Gambia has been providing first aid training and equipment for schools and nurseries in the African nation for almost eight years.
The vital medical supplies are unloaded in the Gambia, thanks to a fundraising effort earlier this year.
But it was back in February – after a serious accident where a taxi ran into a crowd leaving a Gambian football match – that the charity launched a special appeal to help ship across a major donation of supplies.
The charity’s cofounder Bill Nelson explained that UK manufacturer Reliance Medical Supplies had offered to help with supplies and equipment worth £50,000.
