WHEN Mhairi Mac-Donald’s gran came over to visit her from Australia and showcased her jewellery-making skills, it wasn’t long before the mum-of-two was hooked.
Now, almost eight years later, Mhairi’s business, Bluebell Jewels, supplies a host of gift shops throughout Argyllshire including Inveraray Castle.
With support from Business Gateway Argyll and Bute, Mhairi, who is based in Lochgilphead, was able to turn her hobby into a business and is now looking to grow. Mhairi, a former bank worker, creates unique, handcrafted necklaces, bracelets and earrings which are available to buy online and in various gift shops. Each item is made with Swarovski crystals, designer Lampwork beads and glass beads imported from all over the world. Mhairi also uses gemstones, natural shells, silver and copper.
