A CONSERVATION Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) is a jointly-funded grant programme that provides assistance for regenerating historic towns and villages.
When the community in Inveraray expressed concerns over the deterioration in condition of some important buildings in the town, Argyll and Bute Council commissioned conservation accredited consultants to carry out the necessary initial investigations. The evidence gathered formed the basis for a successful application to Historic Environment Scotland.
The CARS projects are improving the appearance of Inveraray, reinforcing the wonderful townscape qualities and emphasising the important historic character and unique setting of the town.
