Ardnave leads the way at Islay June sale

UNITED Auctions had 282 grazing cattle catalogued at their annual June sale at Islay Auction Mart.

A strong force of mainland buyers ensured all stock was cleared at satisfactory rates. Bullocks sold to average £836.90 per head or 230.9 pence per kilo against £790.81 or 231.5 pence per kilo last year. Heifers sold to average £761.25 per head or 222.9 pence per kilo against £779.37 or 222.2 pence per kilo last year. Limousin cross bullocks from Ardnave and Balaclava and Charolais crosses from Tallant sold to £1,040.
