EAGLE-eyed readers contacted the Advertiser after spotting an unusually large number of BT Openreach vans beside the A83 at Castleton, near Lochgilp- head, last Thursday, January 12.
In response to inquiries by this newspaper, a BT spokesman said: ‘Openreach engineers were replacing a section of underground cable at Castleton after it had been damaged by lightning, affecting service to around a dozen end-users.
‘Locally-based engineers were backed up by six from outwith Argyll who had been on standby to help repair storm damage in the Lochgilphead area.’
