UPGRADING work has begun to allow the temporary relocation of inpatient mental health services from Argyll and Bute Hospital to the lower ground floor of Mid Argyll Community Hospital.
The building work will allow Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) to prepare the hospital for the move, expected to be finished by March 2017.
Donald Watt, mental health manager, said: ‘This move will lead to much-improved accommodation for patients and a facility that is more suitable for their needs. We will ensure the building work and the eventual move of patients to Mid Argyll hospital will take place with as little disruption as possible to patients and to the general day-today operation of both hospitals. We will be working closely with patients, staff, carers and the public to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.’
