Thousands flock to Argyll event as summer temperatures soar

UNDER a sweltering sun, Inveraray Highland Games once again proved that it is one of the best events on the circuit – and a jewel in the crown of Argyll.

A day of topnotch competition at Winterton Park climaxed with Scott Rider once again winning the World Caber Championships, but for organisers and the community this was a day tinged with poignancy.

Alasdair Chrystal, convener of the games for 10 years and a staunch supporter for many more before that, passed away in January.
