A TIDAL energy developmentoff thesouth-west coast ofIslay has been grantedplanning consent,promising to create upto 32 new jobs.
The DP Marine EnergyLimited development,called the WestIslay Tidal EnergyPark, will consist of 30tidal energy turbineslocated approximatelysix kilometres offthe south-west coast ofIslay.
Scottish Ministerfor Business, Innovationand Energy, PaulWheelhouse, confirmed that consent hadbeen granted for theoffshore development,saying: ‘Marine renewabletechnologiesoffer huge potentialto the Scottish economyand to rural communities.The West IslayTidal Energy Parkbuilds upon this, helpingus to generate moreclean, green electricityin Scotland and to meetour climate change obligations.’
