Bowmore Primary School pupils get close to the Queen’s baton.
THE BUILD-UP to next year’s Commonwealth Games on Australia’s Gold Coast continued as the Queen’s Baton Relay headed for Islay on Wednesday this week, as part of a five-day tour of Scotland.
After flying into the island’s airport, the baton visited Bowmore and the village primary school, where the school Gaelic choir and Highland dancers performed. The tour also took in the Bowmore distillery and Ionad Chaluim Chille Ìle – the Columba Centre.
