A RARE surviving example of a ring net fishing boat is set to visit Mid Argyll next week.
Shemaron, then called the Wistaria, on the Crinan Canal in the late 1950s or early 1960s.

As featured in a recent edition of the Argyllshire Advertiser, the Shemaron has been saved from decay by husband and wife team Chris and Fiona Malkin, from Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Fiona has just had a book published on the boat’s history, covering the couple’s adventures in acquiring and restoring the former ring netter.
