Inveraray shinty open day success

INVERARAY Shinty Club hosted an open day at the Winterton to celebrate all that is good with the Royal Burgh club.

The event, on Sunday August 21, also raised money for a defibrillator for community and club use, and was aimed at raising awareness of the club.

In a nice touch, two changing rooms at the clubhouse were named after two recently passed club stalwarts, Ernie MacPherson and Duncan MacKay.

The day started at 10am with youth coaches Ross Griffin, Andrew Stewart, Gordon Pirie and Ruaraidh Graham jnr putting the primary players through some fun skill testing. Prizes provided by Gilmour Sports, Paisley, were awarded for this and each child then received a club hoodie and certificate for their efforts across the year.
