IT WAS a walk on the wild side for a group of young carers from Glasgow.
Following in the footsteps of the Highland cattle drovers, they took on the trek earlier this month in an eight-day adventure organised by the Edinburgh-based Venture Trust charity.
On the Argyll section the carers, aged between 16 and 25, bedded down for the night last Tuesday at Auchindrain museum. From there they headed off into the wilderness towards Loch Katrine and the Trossachs, following the drovers’ road.
The adventure was made possible by a £49,900 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund which enables Venture Trust to provide personal development support coupled with two heritage wilderness journeys in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland (HES).
