The Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine is building a collection of maritime works by artists born or living in Scotland from the 19th century onwards and depicting a Scottish shipbuilding, engineering or coastal scene.
The Irvine-based museum has so far collected more than 40 works of art under a project entitled SMMart: Enriching the Imagery of Scotland’s Maritime Heritage, made possible by the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Collecting Cultures programme.
