Kintyre musicians as bold as brass

THE BRASS competitions proved to be competitive as a large contingent of Campbeltown Brass musicians were on fine form.

In the primary brass solo class, the Colville brothers, Andrew and Jamie, of Campbeltown took the top two spots.

The Argyll Brass Roots provided strong resistance to the Campbeltown groups as they won the Tarbert Academy PTA Trophy in the secondary (S1-3) instrumental ensemble in a tight class.

The Maddox brothers – Ben, Felix and Theo – won the McCallum Plate, an award given to the highest scoring family instrumental ensemble.

The 38th Mid Argyll Music Festival held last week has been hailed as a great success.
