Clegs thriving in hot weather

The long spell of warm weather has brought a new menace, biting clegs, which are said to be thriving. Also known as horseflies, the insects’ bites can in some cases become infected and require medical attention, although in most cases pharmacists can offer advice on treatments.

Aileen Bryson of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in Scotland said it had received reports of more people coming in contact with the flies. This was because people were spending more time outside in the sunshine, and having more skin exposed.
