Letters to the Editor

What about us?

May I use the Banner to answer a question which has been frequently asked by visitors to our shop at Brodick Pier. The question, and I know it has also raised fears with my neighbouring businesses, is ‘What’s going to happen to you?’ It’s clear that we have lost all visible line-ofsight with those who use us most – the departing tourists.

Stage 5 of this project has identified the fears we’ve had and the promises from CMAL that their intention was to ‘ensure a swift flow of foot and car traffic from the main road (and footbridge) to the new terminal building’, according to their local manager. This is all very well, but no consideration whatsoever has been given to the busi nesses affected by this re-routing of traffic. We have now endured months of traffic nightmares, excessive noise and frustrated customers who now don’t even know how to get to us once they’ve managed to find the dark side of the moon on which to park.
