Long lost course

Arran has seven golf courses, but once there were 12. Eleven are quite well known, even those which are no longer. The 12th is scarcely known but it was at Cleats Shore, to the west of the mouth of the Lagg Burn.

Mrs Jean Glen of Brodick has been researching Arran’s golf courses for her booklet to mark the centenary of Brodick Golf Club and she revealed the existence of the 12th course. The Cleats course was started in opposition to the slightly longer-lived and nearby Lenamhor Golf Course.
