A decision will be made early next month on the preferred port for the Ardrossan ferry, transport and islands minister Humza Yousaf has told The Banner. Visiting Arran he said he was in the ‘final straight’ of the decision-making process and would make an announcement in early March.
It came as new claims were made today (Friday) that moving the ferry to Troon could delay the introduction of a new £48.5 million vessel on the route by up to a year, while port facilities are completed at the South Ayrshire port.
But Troon have not given up the fight yet and will be back on the island next week to listen to islanders feedback on their proposals.
