NORTH Ayrshire Council has officially backed the Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) campaign following a council motion by Irvine West Labour member Louise McPhater.
WASPI is a campaign fighting the injustice done to women born in the 1950s - on or after April
6 1951 - regarding changes to the state pension age with the aim of achieving fair transitional state pension arrangements for the women affected. There are hundreds of thousands of women across the UK who have been unfairly treated by the pension changes in the Pension Act 2011. Many have lost six years’ state pension entitlement with just two years’ notice.
