GREAT HOPES FOR HIGHGATE HARRIER
THE ALL-ROUNDER IS SET TO CHALLENGE IN THE HIGH JUMP AT THIS WEEKEND’S ENGLISH SCHOOLS, WRITES STEVE ROE
DOMINIC OGBECHIE
DOMINIC OGBECHIE competes for Highgate Harriers and may justifiably be described as the local boy made good.
He was born at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead and these days lives in Belsize Park. Both places are more or less within sight and sound of Highgate’s track headquarters by Parliament Hill; small wonder then that Dominic is a proud member of the famous north London club.
The feeling is rightly mutual, for Highgate in turn have one of the top under-15s in the country.
One of his stand-out performances – the best this year in the age group and taking him to fourth on the UK all-time list – was a 6.81m long jump.
