Masking benefits: the Elevation Training Mask proven to aid endurance
A BIZARRE-LOOKING training mask said to simulate the effects of altitude has been shown to help athletes train faster and for longer. In a study conducted at the University of Wisconsin, commissioned by the not-forprofit organisation the American Council on Exercise (ACE), researchers assessed the claims of the Elevation Training Mask 2.0, made by Training Mask LLC (£65; trainingmask. com), which is just one of several on sale said to work by limiting the flow of air to the nose and mouth in an attempt to mimic the ‘thin’ air in hypoxic conditions.
