For close followers of the sport, the signs were there. Her front-running 1500m victory at the Bislett Games last year caught the eye, of course, followed by a similarly-impressive run at the same Oslo meeting this year where she narrowly missed Zola Budd’s UK mile record. Further back, in the winter of 2014, she showed flashes of brilliance with victories in the British indoor televised events in Birmingham and Glasgow.
