McL AREN 750S
Evolution of the magical 720S dazzled on a warm track. Now for frosty British lanes
TESTER’S NOTE
The instrument binnacle is fixed to the steering column now, so when the latter moves, the former does too. Why aren’t all cars like this?

TESTED 30.11.23, BRECONSHIRE ON SALE NOW
Ah, Portugal. I remember it well. A warm Atlantic breeze scudding around the hills above Estoril. Dry roads, then off to an ex-Formula 1 track with not a drop of rain in the pit lane and even an instructor in the passenger seat to save me from myself. That was McLaren’s environment – one chosen as carefully as can be to show off the strengths of its latest remarkable toy.
Fair enough. But this is my environment, and it could scarcely be more different. The roads are cold, often damp, frosting nicely at the edges and with always just that frisson of additional excitement that there might be ice about. As if a 740bhp, rear-driven McLaren was somehow not already exciting enough. Welcome to Wales.
