TIME TO GET FIT
For many British cyclists, winter is a time of hibernation. All over the country, these past few months, beautiful bicycles have stood neglected in garages and sheds, while gaily coloured cycling attire has been buried in the shadows at the back of wardrobes or the bottom of washing baskets. But soon, as the birds begin to chirrup once more, and the stone-grey skies give way to bluer horizons, they will be busted out and set free to roam the roads and bridle paths once more, although the riders who accompany them will be slower, and possibly chubbier than last time they met. Have no fear, though, if that plodding, pudgier rider sounds like you because over the next few pages you’ll find plenty of advice about how to get your spring training up to speed, something that’ll supercharge your cycling for the rest of the year.
