The international rules for using barebows in target archery were finally approved in 2019, and the first 23 world records for barebow archers become official on 1 April 2020.
A total of 54 valid record claims were made, and scores recorded by 16 archers from Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Italy, Latvia, New Zealand, Slovenia, Sweden and the USA have been accepted. In a sign of limited availability of record-status outdoor shoots currently available, all nine confirmed outdoor records were shot at one event in New Zealand.
