ON THE BALL

NICK BALL enhanced his unblemished record with an inside-the-distance win at the Grand Central Hall. The Liverpool youngster took on Bratislava’s Ivan Godor over six rounds atop a Black Flash Promotions bill, which was promoted in association with Queensberry Promotions. Referee Jamie Kirkpatrick accepted the retirement from the blue corner at the end of the first round.

James Metcalf got back in the ring after hand surgery and earned a first-round stoppage. The current custodian of the Commonwealth super-welterweight title took less than a minute to get rid of Jan Balog. The Czech import went over from a left hand and was deemed in no position to continue by referee Mark Lyson after just 32 seconds.
