This stunning self build is located on a garden plot in Cornwall, surrounded by a line of protected trees and hedgerows. The homeowners have downsized from an 1840s period property, but their new build is packed with character thanks to an internally exposed oak frame structure from Post & Beam. The house was designed by Kast Architects to be in keeping with the local vernacular. The simple form emulates a classic rural barn, but with a modern twist; it is clad in black stained timber from Russwood, with a metal sheet roof to match.
