Seaside sculpture still sits steady at Saddell

A METAL man sculpture which has dominated rocks on Saddell beach for a year is destined to stay a little longer.

The Landmark Trust’s free public open days, at Saddell House, gave visitors a formal chance to say farewell to the sculpture – although it will be in place for another month or so – part of a nationwide exhibition called Land, by artist Antony Gormley.

Musicians Alex McAllister and Davie Robertson entertained picnickers, many eating Ifferdale lamb burgers and sampling homemade lemonade, on the house’s lawn.
