PRIME Minister Theresa May has said she will raise Campbeltown’s Billy Irving and the Chennai Six’s detention in India at Delhi meetings next month. This is despite Mrs May failing to raise the men’s case at earlier meetings with Indian ministers.
The Wee Toon-educated former paratrooper has been trapped in India since 2013 when anti-piracy vessel MV Seaman Ohio’s 35-man crew were arrested for straying into Indian waters with what were claimed to be unlicensed weapons.
The six British men’s appeal against their conviction and five-year sentence and a bail hearing scheduled earlier this month were postponed as a new judge was appointed.
