THE SACRIFICE of thousands of Merchant Navy seamen was remembered across the UK and in Kintyre.
A modest crowd gathered at the cenotaph to mark national Merchant Navy memorial day last Saturday. Reverend Philip Wallace gave a speech at the service praising the brave men, women and children who gave their lives during the 20th century, with roughly 46,000 believed to have been lost.
