This is our Charter & Travel issue, timed to give you ideas and assistance for planning your winter vacation around boating.

Of course the October issue of Canadian Yachting also includes the regular columns and stories that our readers anticipate. Katherine Stone takes us through the remarkable 300-year history of the property that is now the Beaconsfield Yacht Club in Quebec, while Catherine Dook (our other Catherine) gives us a “tongue in cheek” local perspective on B.C.’s Cowichan Bay. It’s so attractive and scenic that there is no place to park! That is, unless you arrive by boat. And you can do that all year ‘round. In case you want to vacation at home this winter, B.C. is the place!

We have two new boat reviews for you; the exciting Elan GT5 will attract the racer / cruisers while Jeanneau’s Leader 10.5 brings outboard power and high performance to the big day boat / cruiser category.

Our big focus though, is cruising down south and Mark Stevens takes us on a tour of beautiful Antigua while Sheryl and Paul Shard give you a taste of their favourite southern cruising destinations for charter vacationers.

Last, but far from least, Iain MacMillan takes us all the way to Italy for a visit to both Lake Como and also, the famous Riva Boat plant. Iain’s visit happened just a short time before the famous and internationally celebrated Carlo Riva passed away. Iain tells us about two of his classic wooden Rivas that now grace our Canadian waters.

All this and more in the October 2017 Canadian Yachting magazine!
