ACHIEVEMENT IMPERFECTION

INDIE games are often a byword for creativity, producing smaller; and often more personal, experiences to which a lot of large companies can no longer commit. Not because they’re incapable, but because of the ever-spiralling cost and ambition of the usual raft of AAA releases. To stay at the cutting edge of AAA games is the main priority for a studio and publisher, with the bottom line dictating the dialogue of the game’s success.

Indie games don’t have those limitations and are usually inspired by passions and experiences without the same definition of success some bigger titles may expect. This allows for a much more varied and interesting catalogue of games, experimentation in game mechanics and interesting story-telling techniques. As such, the indie gaming scene has become increasingly vibrant, thanks to being finally embraced by all of the big console makers rather than relegated to a mere sideshow.
