Cyndi Lauper will release her first country album next year. The iconic New Yorker will fulfil longstanding Nashville ambitions by working with stalwarts of the genre Seymour Stein and Tony Brown on the collection. At the London launch of her new musical Kinky Boots, Cyndi said, “I’m not getting any younger, so while I still have my teeth I want to go down to Nashville and finally do a country record. That’s the music I used to sing to myself when I was starting out and I figure there’s never been a better time – so next year.” Kinky Boots is on at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End.
