RAILWAY OF THE MONTH
HORSETHIEF BRIDGE
Antony Quinlan describes his American N layout, set on the Columbia River in the Pacific north-west – a superb setting for watching long trains roll by.

PLAN OF THE MONTH
HOLTZAPFFEL
Maurice Hopper developed an ingenious circular design using lightweight and easily portable baseboards for his second essay in modelling German railways in N.

FEATURES

RUE DES CAVES
French industrial scenes along Wine Cellar Road – Frédéric Mouget reports how his HO dioramas have been expanded and developed to make an even more satisfying layout.

EL GATO
A prestige passenger train for the C&CSRR: Bill Longley-Cook describes the latest additions to the rolling stock on his US On30 garden railroad.

GOLLWALD – 2
A narrow gauge terminus in Austria modelled in HOe: Peter Hoffmann has created a fictitious but plausible line
with careful consideration of the historical background, geographical setting, and operating requirements.

TRANSFERABLE DCC
Les Fordham discovered an unexpected benefit of Digital Command Control – the same equipment could quite readily be used on several different layouts, no matter what the scale, gauge, or subject matter.

COAL YARD
In the course of a (non-railway) family holiday in Sweden, Giles Barnabe observed a modest dockside installation which could easily be adapted to almost any location.

C50 NARROW GAUGE DIESEL
Prompted by an article in CM (February 2021), Andrew Knights scratchbuilt a Hungarian prototype in O around an old motor bogie – and ‘exported’ it to the US!

THE SIGHTS OF TAIWAN
Kieren Haskell describes an unusual large display layout constructed in China, with scenery in (approximately) HO around a 5" gauge ride-on line which carries the visitors.

Wow

Some beautiful pictures to look at and great articles Reviewed 22 January 2023

Continental Modeller

I model in the US. It is extremely interesting to see how Europeans model their trains compared to how we model ours. The model railroads chosen are always stunning examples of compactness and high levels of detailing. Reviewed 25 January 2021
