Previously unreleased 1973 demos

Townes Van Zandt, had he lived, would have turned 75 this year. Sadly, he departed this earth in 1997, aged 52, after decades of hard living while struggling with depression and addiction. For anyone new to Van Zandt, I’ll simply state that the Texan singer-songwriter was a remarkable talent whose ability to blend folk, blues and country into an original whole won him praise while alive – the likes of Steve Earle and Emmylou Harris were vocal champions of his songwriting – and an even bigger posthumous fan club, with everyone from Norah Jones to Robert Plant (with Alison Krauss) recording his songs.
