The get-together feast INSPIRED BY THE EAST

Too many cooks in the kitchen? Not with this bunch. Sabrina invited friends (and top chefs) Dan Doherty, Anna Hansen and Bruno Loubet to join her and cook up an east-meets-west feast. When the foursome gathered to create their favourite recipes with a Middle Eastern twist, the resulting spread was a medley of wonderful dishes made for sharing – though there might be a fight for the pomegranate molasses

MEET SABRINA’S CHEF BUDDIES

DAN DOHERTY is executive chef at sky-high restaurant Duck & Waffle, on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower in London. He met Sabrina in the early 2000s when he was an apprentice at 1 Lombard Street, a fine dining restaurant in the heart of the City. Back then, Sabrina was the restaurant’s events manager.

ANNA HANSEN learned from the king of fusion food (and fellow Kiwi chef) Peter Gordon, and she brings an eclectic style of cooking to her own restaurants, The Modern Pantry in London’s Clerkenwell and Finsbury. A few years ago, Sabrina hosted a dinner at The Modern Pantry, and the pair have been friends ever since.

BRUNO LOUBET was born in France but has made Britain his home.

He opened his veg-centric restaurant, Grain Store, in London’s Kings Cross in 2013 and struck up a friendship with Sabrina after she hosted an event there. Grain Store Gatwick opened earlier this year.

ANNA ON FLAVOUR

“Middle Eastern ingredients bring distinctive layers to a dish – I’ve been a fan since I started cooking. They’re bold and stand out, which is important to me because I don’t like adding ingredients for the sake of it. Using flavours from across the globe in everyday cooking gives you potential to be creative.”
