REDUCED EGT, QUICKER SPOOLUP, MORE POWER

THE ULTIMATE DROP-IN TURBO FOR ’15–’19 6.7L POWER STROKES THAT TOW

Fight from the factory, Ford builds one heck of a Super Duty these days.

At the present time, dual rear wheel model F-450s can tow well more than 30,000 pounds via gooseneck, and the 450 hp 6.7L Power Stroke under the hood has no problem getting 20 tons of heft moving in a hurry.

But even though these mountain-movers are capable of lugging virtually any load you connect them to, subjecting them to long, protracted grades at max GCWR can yield some toasty operating temperatures. Abnormally high coolant, transmission (which, on 6.7L Fords, is directly related to coolant), engine oil and exhaust gas temperatures don’t sit well with folks who work their trucks hard. For the owner of this ’18 F-450 in particular, lowering peak EGT became his primary concern.

Because the truck spends its life hooked to a trailer that rarely weighs fewer than 25,000 pounds, its owner wasn’t comfortable seeing EGT crest at 1,400 degrees on occasion.

To cool things off, he reached out to Flynn’s Shop in Alexander, Illinois. It recommended the MP64S from Midwest Diesel & Auto—a brand-new turbo option that’s quickly becoming revered for its ability to drastically reduce EGT while simultaneously improving spoolup.

Following the install, and with the truck back at work, the owner confirmed a 300 degree drop in EGT, as well as quicker response than the factory charger had provided.
