Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is the world’s fastest growing sport, and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is MMA’s largest and most prominent organisation. In 2016, Amanda Nunes became the UFC’s first openly gay champion, winning the Women’s Bantamweight title in devastating fashion.

“Being out was never a big thing for me – being champion was my big thing,” Nunes says with wide, bright eyes when we meet at International Fight Week in Las Vegas. “It was such a huge moment when I became champion. I wanted to share this with the person who was by my side throughout the whole process. I stepped out of the cage and gave Nina a kiss.”
