SCHITT$ CREEK Season 5 (Netflix)
The formerly wealthy Rose family are still struggling to come to terms with sudden poverty. There’s Catherine O’Hara as the delightfully faded glamour mom, and Eugene Levy as the patriarch with a slippery grip on the family’s economic stability. But it’s daffy/ sexy pansexual son David (above) who has attracted the most attention. “Dan Levy [as David] is moving LGBTQ visibility forward by inspiring us to embrace all of who we are,” says the HRC, who handed him their visibility award last March, the latest in a bunch of queer-positive gongs he’s received, including a clutch of Emmys as co-creator/co-writer/ co-star. This sitcom can be brutal but at its heart is a community in which people aren’t judged by who they love. If you can’t handle that, you’re definitely without a paddle. Season 6 (the final) streaming soon. (Canadian Broadcasting Corp)
