Last issue, we reported that the first seven episodes of the latest series had all landed inside the weekly Top 10 of the TV chart, setting a new record for Doctor Who. Well, all good things come to an end sooner or later, and the eighth episode, The Witchfinders, wound up in 17th place.
However, this sharp drop looks more drastic than it really is. It’s mostly a consequence of the return of ITV’s incredibly popular I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, which took the top seven positions, all attracting over 12 million viewers. In raw numbers, Doctor Who suffered a small fall from the previous week, but nevertheless had a strong rating of 7.21 million (7.03m on televisions, 0.18m on computers, laptops and hand-held devices).
