THE SENSORITES

THE DOCTOR IS CONCERNED: THE TARDIS HAS landed but the instruments indicate it’s still in motion. The scanner screen reveals nothing but static, which the Doctor suspects is caused by a magnetic field.

Venturing beyond the safety of the TARDIS, the Doctor, Ian, Barbara and Susan discover they are aboard a vessel travelling through space. Two of the crew are held in suspended animation by the apparently hostile Sensorites, denizens of the Sense-Sphere – the planet around which the ship presently orbits. The other crew member lives apart on the ship, having become unhinged by the aliens’ mental assaults.

Terrified of the Sensorites and fearing reprisals, the crew insists that the travellers depart. However, the TARDIS lock has been removed by the aliens and the Doctor and his party find themselves stranded aboard the stricken craft.

About Doctor Who Magazine

“Space: the final frontier. Final, because it wants to kill us...” The TARDIS doesn’t just travel through time – stories set in space have been an essential part of Doctor Who for six decades. The inhospitable void between the stars has served as the backdrop to epic space operas and nerve-racking thrillers, while harbouring some of the most dangerous adversaries the Doctor has ever encountered. This lavish publication navigates a revealing course through the space lanes of Doctor Who, with exclusive interviews, rare images, and guides to some of the most memorable episodes.
