Dolls House and Miniature Scene  |  May 2017 (Iss 276)
When it comes to dolls house collections and collectables,
Newby Hall in North Yorkshire is one of the world’s most
inspirational, thanks to the generosity of collectors Caroline
Hamilton and Jane Fiddick who have been collecting and
exhibiting around the world for over 30 years! With nearly 70
houses of all shapes, sizes, styles and ages their assembly
is not to be missed and includes small room boxes such as
Grandmama’s Parlour to the very grand Beagle House and Best
House. I sent roving reporter and miniaturist Sadie Brown to
North Yorkshire to experience a collection she will “never forget”.

Also read about and discover the Small Stories of the tiny
inhabitants of twelve of the V&A Museum of Childhood’s most
treasured dolls houses at Norwich Castle Museum and Art
Gallery. Journey back in time to listen to the revealing narratives
of social history and domestic life in several different eras from
the late 18th Century to the 21st Century. Page 33.
And that’s not all, our team of talented artisans will show you how
to re-cycle an old biro to create a kitchen whisk, knit an adorable cot
throw, paint in miniature using acrylics plus much more.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch, it’s always great to hear
from you!
