Summer’s here and the weather is acting as if it hasn’t noticed. But to get you in a summer state of mind just pull up a chair at Eva Perendreu’s Cocktail Beach Bar. It sits prettily over-looking the clear blue water and delicious cocktails are being served in a cosy atmosphere.
The ubiquitous coffee stirrers and tongue depressors, along with recycled cardboard, were used in its construction. Eva said it took her several months to make as “she’s not really good” with wood, but the final effect is wonderful.
There’s a totally different feel to Sandie Criddle’s beachside cottage which has a relaxed, nautical theme, but I’d love to stay there for a couple of weeks.
Aurea Segura can see the sailing boats on the ocean from her workshop and the views have inspired her latest collection of fabulous furniture.
Lots of other lovely scenes too this issue, from a Japanese courtyard to an amazing library built by a collector whose passion has led her to gather more than 4,000 books.
We hear from one club how Zoom meetings have been helping them cope with lockdown and talk to a maker of gorgeous bikinis, shorts and flip-flops about why she loves summer styles.
So get your swimsuit out (in twelfth scale of course). The sun will always be shining when it comes to miniatures.
