Dolls House World  |  Issue 345
As Oscar Wilde so aptly put it: “And all at once, summer collapsed into fall.”
It seems only a few weeks ago that we were thinking about adding flowers to garden projects, making flip flops for a beach scene and looking enviously at a twelfth scale pool by a patio.
Now we’re dusting off the orange polymer clay and preparing pumpkins and autumnal cakes.
Believe it or not there are many miniaturists who would love it to be Halloween all year round. They love the dramatic opportunities, along with the colour and the fun, that the season brings and devote themselves to those scenes twelve months of the year.
Others like Linda Sullivan, are happy for the contrast it brings. She’s a microbiologist who has loved witches since she was a little girl, so it’s no surprise they feature in her ever-growing town project. But you might remember her from last April when we featured her wonderful Downton Abbey. Spirit Hill, inside this issue, couldn’t be more different.
And that’s the beauty of miniatures — the endless possibilities whatever the period, or whatever the season. I’m sure Oscar would have agreed.
