A step back in bhangra time


IT WAS perhaps always going to be inevitable that DJ K Square would team up with a top singer and produce a song one day.

The cool Canadian grew up on a diet of bhangra and used that appetite for catchy beats to help turn himself into one of North America’s top DJs.

For his newly released debut single Haa Kurvakeh, DJ K Square has teamed up with British singing star Jassi Sidhu and delivered a contemporary song with an old skool bhangra feel.

Eastern Eye caught up with the Toronto-based DJ to find out more about him, the new single, his future plans, DJing passion and more…

Tell us about the first time that you became really connected to music…

I got connected in the late 90s when in Toronto; we used to do daytime jams. I was able to witness the Indian community really take shape.
