The new release of the First World War Record Card archive is a welcome boost for researchers – particularly those who have knowledge of the existence of a First World War serviceman yet lack the documentary evidence. These records contain unique genealogical information which link a home address with the full name and regiment of a serviceman. The Western Front Association (WFA) acquired the full archive in November 2012, when a Ministry of Defence warehouse was scheduled to be cleared. The WFA has partnered with Ancestry.co.uk to fully digitise these important records.
